Autumn in Richmond

Sunlight buries itself playfully in the soft, pearly cloud cussions, popping out here and there only to dive straight back in. Richmond filled with a golden glow reflects majestically in the broad waters of the Thames, adorned with colourful boats. I walk briskly through the town, hurry to collect my girl from school and the smell of autumn fills my lungs, tickles my deepest memories. They are just shades of feelings too abstract for words even inside my head. They taste bitter-sweet, I want to hug these trees, this padded sky. On the way home we stop by the river. My girl loves looking at the water up-close. We look for stones which the river brought here from the sea. We take our trophies home. When Sasha goes to bed I start a new still life.

Spring Blossoms

Today's painting is one of my more ambitious projects, mainly because it is bigger in size - 16'' x 16'' or 40 x 40 cm. The bigger size takes longer to paint and the flowers won't stay fresh for long. Nevertheless I have finished this painting today and the flowers just barely made it so I am pleased with the outcome. This painting is going to be one of the lot I am showing at the next exhibition of my local art group which is due to happen very soon, this coming May Bank holiday, in fact. I am feeling really pressed for time now because my daughter's Easter holidays are still in the full swing and I can't do much in terms of painting while she is at home.

Lilly and Harvey - first painting of 2009

Today I have finished the portrait which I have been asked to do before the holidays. Christmas as usually arrived somewhat unexpectedly. I mean when you are waiting steadily for some time you start getting used to this position and then suddenly it's here and you are already standing in the church singing Oh come, Oh Ye Faithful to your heart's content.It was a good Christmas and an unusual New Year in the company of my aunt from Spain. Now it's finally back to work time and here is my first painting marked 2009.

Falon painting is finished

I have finally finished the first painting of the falcon hunting series. I have published here the initial stages of this painting and here is the end result. It's a peregrine falcon on top of a slain houbara bustard. It's only the second time I have attempted to paint birds with all their intricate feathers so it was a very interesting challenge for me. The first one has been a commission and the client expressed an interest in this kind of scene so I have started the series. The time will show if this painting will lead to something significant.

Rose and Pebbles

I have started this painting several days ago but completed it only today. I wanted to create the sea cottage feeling when I started it. It's too soon now for me to have an objective view of it. I am fairly pleased with it so far.

First Autumn Leaves

Have been to Richmond park today and the first signs of autumn are so very clear over there. This is a part of a little pond right by the Ham Gates.
